Introduction
Survival (survival.js, by R74n) changes Sandboxels from free play into a loop: with limited resources, you must craft, sell, and buy to progress. That sentence, from the official listing, is the whole design. Everything in this guide is about learning that loop, not spoiling every discovery.
How the loop works
You start limited. You gather or earn resources, craft what you need, sell what you do not, and buy what you cannot make yet. Progress is therefore a series of small decisions — what to keep, what to sell, what to save for — rather than a single unlock.
Getting started
- Enable
survival.jsalone first. Other mods can change the same systems and hide what survival itself does. - Explore the starting resources and menus before spending anything.
- Make one small craft, sell one surplus item, and buy one thing you need. That first full loop teaches the economy faster than reading about it.
- Keep a short note of recipes and prices that work. A failed run still teaches you something if you recorded it.
Common beginner mistakes
- Spending everything early, then having nothing to trade with.
- Keeping everything "just in case" and never selling, so progress stalls.
- Enabling other mods at the same time and blaming survival for a conflict.
When to add other mods
Once you understand the loop on its own, you can experiment with compatible additions one at a time. If progression suddenly behaves strangely, disable the newest addition first and test again.
