Introduction
Compatibility is the least glamorous part of modding and the one that saves the most time. This guide states what is known, what is not known, and how to test combinations yourself — because this site has not independently tested every mod in every browser, and it will not pretend otherwise.
What is actually known
- Glow is listed as Chrome only. That is a source-stated compatibility limit, and it is shown on the mod page.
- All other mods in this directory have no compatibility statement on the source listing. Their mod pages therefore say "not stated" — that is an honest gap, not a claim that they work everywhere.
- Sandboxels itself runs in a modern browser. An outdated browser is a common, fixable cause of problems that look like mod failures.
Browser, game version and mod version
Three things can change at once: your browser updates, the game updates, and a mod updates. When something breaks, ask which of the three changed most recently, and check the mod's source listing for a note about that change.
A safe testing method
- Save your scene.
- Disable all mods, confirm the base game works.
- Enable the new mod alone, test it.
- Add your other mods back one at a time, testing after each addition.
- If a combination fails, you now know exactly which pair failed.
Deprecated and outdated mods
A mod is deprecated when its source says so, or when it no longer works after a game update and its source has not been updated. Do not keep a deprecated mod enabled "just in case" — remove it, save a copy of any scene that used it, and check the source for a replacement or an updated version.
