Sandboxels Mod Manager Explained

What the Mod Manager does, how filenames work, and why a mod must be typed exactly, including the .js ending.

Introduction

The Mod Manager is the in-game tool for enabling Sandboxels mods. You do not install mods by downloading files from this site; you tell the Mod Manager which mod to load, by filename or by full URL, and it loads that mod when the game refreshes.

How to open it

In the official game, press Mods in the toolbar. That opens the Mod Manager, where you can add, enable and remove mods.

How filenames work

The official mod list states that a filename must be typed exactly as written, case-sensitive and including the .js ending. For example, survival.js and Survival.js are different names to the manager. After typing, press Enter, then refresh the page. Without the refresh, the mod may not load even though you typed it correctly.

What the manager does not do

  • It does not check whether a mod is safe, compatible or up to date for you. That is why this directory links to the original source and states compatibility only where the source states it.
  • It does not resolve conflicts for you. If two mods change the same elements, you need to test them one at a time.
  • It does not replace the official mod list. If a filename is not on that list or in the public repository, treat it with extra caution — see the safe-mods guide.

A clean workflow

  1. Choose one mod from the verified directory.
  2. Copy its filename from the mod page.
  3. Paste it into the Mod Manager, press Enter, refresh.
  4. Test it alone before adding another mod.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Mod Manager?

In the game toolbar, under Mods.

Do I need to refresh after adding a mod?

Yes — the official instructions say to refresh after pressing Enter.

Can I use a full URL instead of a filename?

The official list says you can enter a whole URL as well, but filenames from the official list are the safer, simpler route.
